Holdfire Carefree returns control of the door to many of the less able residents, promoting independence, privacy and choice.
Unlike the Holdfire Door Holder which simply holds doors open against the force of the existing closer, Carefree combines a door closing system with a hold open and swing free capability.
Compact and stylish, Carefree is ideal for new build or retrofit and can be particularly economic if fitted as an alternative to new door closers. The unit may be finished in silver paint, polished brass, polished chrome or custom matched to your colour scheme.
The mechanism inside Carefree removes all the closing forces, which to residents means the door behaves like any “normal” door. The door can be easily opened and closed, or left in any position, even just a small crack. Because the door does not try to close against a trolley or frame being pushed through the doorway, it also avoids unsightly and expensive damage to the door itself.
It is only when the fire alarms activate that the Carefree closing action engages and closes the door from any open position. The closing speed is fully adjustable and can be set to sweep slowly to a controlled close, so avoiding the risk of injury.
Similar to the Holdfire Door Holder, Carefree avoids the twisting forces caused by most hold open devices that may lead to permanent warping of doors over time and the need for expensive replacements.
